Lady Cougars Softball Gearing Up For Season Opener

THE COLUMBUS STATE UNIVERSITY SOFTBALL TEAM WILL OPEN UP THEIR 2018 SEASON IN THE SOUTHERN SOFTBALL SHOWDOWN

The Columbus State Women’s softball team will open up their season this weekend with the 2018 Southern Softball Showdown.

Ten other teams will be featured in the tournament, including several Peach Belt Conference foes.

CSU comes off a 27-26-1 season getting knocked out of the 2017 Peach Belt Conference tournament by Flagler.

The Lady Cougars start the tournament off with a Gulf South Conference opponent, Valdosta State.

Head Coach Brad Huskisson talks on how they are not necessarily scouting the opponent but putting more of the focus on what they can do.

“We want to make sure we are competing and I gotta see if the kids are buying into every 2.5 seconds of when a play is made. Are we competing to win every 2.5 seconds? That’s first and foremost,” Says Huskisson.

The tournament will take place at the South Commons Softball Complex starting Saturday, February 3rd.
