The Columbus, Georgia Government Center Tower and East/West Wings Will Be Closed Wednesday January 3rd

Normal hours of operations and all city services in these buildings will resume as normal on Thursday January 4, 2018.
Heads up for Columbus Government Center Workers.

Due to an unexpected failure of the heating system in the Government Center Tower and East/West Wings, City Manager Isaiah Hugley has authorized departments to allow some employees “except” emergency and other essential personnel to take off (at their respective department head’s discretion) on Wednesday January 3, 2018.

Normal hours of operations and all city services in these buildings will resume as normal on Thursday January 4, 2018.

The expected repair timeline is as follows:

  •   Expected overnight parts delivery Wednesday, January 3, 2018 around 10:00am.
  •   One to two hours repair time, providing everything goes well
  •   After repairs, will take approximately four hours to get the building heated/warm

    City operations conducted outside of the Government Center Tower and East/Wings will run as normal on Wednesday, January 3, 2018. All other city buildings including the City Service Center, Government Annex, and Public Safety Building will have normal business hours on Wednesday, January 3, 2018.
