Puerto Rico: 55% of Customers Have Electricity

PUERTO RICAN GOVERNMENT SAYS ELECTRIC SERVICE RESTORED TO 55% OF CLIENTS

(CNN) – The lights are back on for more people in Puerto Rico, but nearly half the island will still be bringing in the new year without electricity.

Puerto Rico is still struggling to recover, after hurricane Maria devastated the island in late September.

Most of the island lost power in the storm.

For months, there have been no details from the Puerto Rican government on the number of people now living without electricity.

Instead, they have focused on things such as power generation.

On Friday, officials said about 55% of clients who are able to receive electricity have had their power restored.
