Legendary Sportscaster Dick Enberg Dies

(CNN) – Legendary sportscaster Dick Enberg has died at the age of 82.

Sports Illustrated reports that his family believes he died of a heart attack, but they say they’re waiting for an official medical assessment.

In his most recent role, Enberg was an announcer for the San Diego Padres, but his storied career spanned six decades.

It included 10 Super Bowls, 28 Wimbledons, and several Olympic games.

Wnberg started out as a teacher, earning a PHD Health Science studies.

His broadcasting career started as a side gig to supplement his teacher’s salary.

The Padres’ executive chairman and managing partner offered their condolences in a statement on social media.

Dozens more individual statements poured in on Twitter as the sports world paid tribute to Enberg.

He’s survived by his wife, five children and three grandchildren.
