Alabama Men’s Basketball Pays a Visit to the Boys & Girls Club

WHILE PREPARING FOR TEXAS THE ALABAMA MBB TEAM TOOK TIME AWAY TO VOLUNTEER

The Alabama men’s basketball team took time away from preparing for Texas in the Vulcan classic to dedicate time to the Birmingham area Boys and Girls Club.

The men’s team got to together to speak to the kids, shoot some hoops and even brought along new bicycles with them.

Head coach Avery Johnson talked about how this experience reminded him of a time all too similar to his own childhood saying, “Forty years ago, forty five years ago, I was that same young man. I was standing in line for hours trying to get a bike and some years I got one and some years I got another gift that wasn’t a bike and to see those bikes rolled in by all of our players, they rolled those bikes in with a sense of pride because this is the giving season, it’s not how much you receive it’s how much you give.”
