A new Mayo Clinic study finds cancer survivors were more likely to suffer from chronic illnesses like hormonal disorders ,heart problems and low bone density.
They also developed these conditions at a younger age than the general population.
Researchers say this is mostly likely due to the damage caused by chemotherapy and radiation to healthy issues.
Childhood cancer survivors are between 3 to 6 times as likely to develop a second cancer.
Childhood cancer survivors’ estimated life expectancy is 30-percent lower than the general population.
