Cinemark Theater Chain Rolls Out Subscription Plan
CINEMARK THEATER CHAIN ROLLS OUT SUBSCRIPTION PLAN
Norfolk-Portsmouth-Newport News, VA (WAVY) – Movie theaters have had a rough year in 2017- in part due to the popularity of subscription entertainment services like Netflix.
So, one of the nation’s biggest theater chains is fighting back, by taking a page out of the subscription play-book.
Cinemark on Tuesday unveiled “Movie Club,” a program that lets people buy a ticket a month for a discounted price of $8.99
Members can also roll over unused tickets and get bargains at the concession stand.
Cinemark’s CEO says the plan is geared towards millennials.
Cinemark owns nearly 350 theaters nationwide, operating more than 4,500 movie screens.
But even with the stock market rally, the company has still fallen victim to 2017’s box office slump, with shares dropping five percent.
