Two UGA Players Arrested After SEC Championship Game
Georgia linebacker Natrez Patrick and wide receiver Jayson Stanley were arrested late Saturday night, hours after the Bulldogs beat Auburn 28-7 in the SEC Championship Game.
This according to AL.com.
Patrick — a starter for the Bulldogs — was arrested in Barrow County around midnight that’s just west of Athens.
According to a report by 11alive, Patrick was arrested on a charge of possession of less than one ounce of marijuana. Patrick was reportedly a passenger in a car driven by Stanley, who was charged with driving under the influence, possession of marijuana less than one ounce after being pulled over for driving 87 mph in a 65 mph zone.
It’s the third arrest in three years for Patrick, who was suspended four games following an October arrest on misdemeanor marijuana charges. He was also arrested on a misdemeanor marijuana charge as a freshman in 2015 and suspended for one game.
According to UGAsports.com, the school’s student-athlete handbook calls for dismissal from the team after a third drug-related offense.
Georgia officials have not yet commented on Patrick’s arrest.
