Stop by the home of Sequoyah the bald eagle between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to learn more about bald eagle conservation and the vital ecological roles played by his species.
Named the national bird of the United States in 1782, the bald eagle is one of American history’s greatest conservation success stories.
Driven to the brink of extinction in the 20th century, the species was removed from the Endangered Species List in 2007, although it remains federally protected by the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and state laws.
Threats include collisions with cars and power lines and illegal hunting.
