Scholar Athlete: Brookstone Volleyball, Lucy Laughbaum

Lucy Laughbaum is a three sport athlete at Brookstone school playing volleyball in the fall, basketball in the winter, soccer in the spring and somehow finds to time for other organizations.

“I’m in french club, and green club, and I’m also in a Cougs against cancer club where we work to help with the cancer event at the end of school,” says Laughbaum.

She doesn’t take it easy on herself in the classroom taking four advanced placement classes and 2 honors classes. When asked how she handles her busy schedule she says, “honestly I don’t know, its’s just make sure you get your work ahead of time.”

Lucy has shined since her start on the varsity volleyball team earning accolades as an underclassmen.

“I’ve been region player my sophomore and junior year and I’ve been best all around player and best hitter,” says Laughbaum.

Even though she has now reached the top she doesn’t want to stop progressing.

“Just to improve on everything that would be nice. I would like to get better kills and like get better passes, a harder serve,” says Laughbaum. 

Lucy currently has a 4.264 gpa and hopes to attend the University of Georgia when she graduates. Congratulations to Lucy Laughbaum of Brookstone school, this weeks scholar athlete.
