Dustin Wright Tribute, One of the Soldiers Killed in Niger

Friends, family and former classmates paid tribute to one of the fallen soldiers killed in Niger, Sgt. Dustin Michael Wright.

Less than one month after his death, loved ones gathered on the football field at Sgt. Wright’s former high school to remember and honor him.

Wright and three others were killed weeks ago in an ambush attack in the African nation of Niger.

Community members cheered as balloons were released into the sky.

The county’s police chief and other officials presented an engraved paver during a special half-time ceremony.

“Tonight is just a brief pause if you will in how we can simply just honor his life, his time here, this community what he meant to this community what he has meant to this state and this great nation,” said Randy Ellison,Chief of Police, City of Swainsboro.

The paver will be placed in Pine Brook Park and Sgt. Wright’s name will be added to the veteran’s wall there.
