Republican Greer Angered Alabama’s Legislatives
Republican Lynn Greer angered members of Alabama’s legislative black caucus due to an email critics said was racist.
“We have been subjected to the most racial insult that I’ve ever seen,” said Rep. John Knight from the Alabama State Legislature. “Being a resident of Alabama it is unacceptable and we will not continue to take this kind of action.”
Greer forwarded an email, which referenced caged moneys trying to reach a banana tied to a string.
Members of the black caucus said the email was making fun of African-Americans, but Greer said the email was taken out of context.
“This was not racist,” Greer said. “It’s like going up a highway and saying you’re a racist because you drive on an asphalt that’s black.”
He said the email compared a psychological experiment involving monkeys to the political climate of the U.S. Congress.
Greer apologized for creating tension between him and his colleagues.
