Springwood’s Tazsa Garrett-Hammett Signs Basketball Scholarship

GARRETT-HAMMETT IS HEADED TO WEST ALABAMA

Springwood basketball player Tazsa Garrett-Hammett’s hard work has paid off.

On Thursday, Garrett-Hammett signed a scholarship with the University of West Alabama.

Garrett-Hammett was a two-time AISA Player of the Year and helped lead the Springwood Wilcats to a state title back in 2016.

She says she’s excited for the next stage of her life as she’s reunited with her older sister once again.

“Everyone always told me that when you visit a school, you should feel it. It should feel like home to you,” she said. “So I guess when my sister visited and I went with her and I did my own official visit, I knew that was the place I wanted to be.”

This season, she led the Cats to the AISA semifinals and averaged 23 points and 12 rebounds a game.
