Scholar Athlete: Glenwood Pitcher & First Baseman, Jarrett Carter
CARTER LEADS THE TEAM IN MANY CATEGORIES
Ever since he started playing baseball, Jarrett Carter wanted to win a ring.
That moment came last year.
“It was kind of like a sigh of relief that came off your back,” Carter said about Glenwood’s State Championship last season. “That’s every kid’s dream is to win a state championship in some form of way so it just felt good.”
Carter is now a senior with Glenwood and is one of their top players.
He leads the team in doubles, home runs and RBI and is currently 4-1 on the mound with a 1.34 ERA.
His numbers are some of the best because Carter knows what it takes to be a Glenwood Gator.
“It’s like your skill level needs to be there, you need to be more mature because you know you’re playing not just for you but for he organization and you carry that name along,” he said.
Carter is also solid off the field.
Hehas a 3.7 GPA and scored a 27 on his ACT. Because he’s not involved in any clubs, he spends his off-season working on his game.
“Just trying to get better so you can play the game better,” Carter said. “Off-season conditioning is probably what gets you through the season. Without a doubt, it’s what gets you through the season.”
Carter wants to study business after high school and possibly continue his baseball career.
While he hasn’t gotten an official athletic offer yet, he’s hoping to gather some attention before the season is up.
“I’m just gonna have to talk to colleges and everything and just kind of put myself out there and see what I get,” said Carter.
