Fire destroys building
MACON WAREHOUSE FIRE
Macon, GA (WGXA) – Fire fighters are still investigating the cause of a fire that nearly destroyed a Macon building on Sunday morning.
Bibb County fire chief Marvin Riggins says the fire department got a call around 7:30 A.M. that a large commercial building on Broadway was in flames.
Riggins says about 40 firefighters were out fighting the blaze.
He says there is heavy damage done to about 75% of the building.
Chief Marvin Riggins explains, “We do have this fire contained at this point in time. When I say contained… we have it confined, it’s not going to spread any further. We’re fighting hotspots right now. And we’ll be here probably all dayto contain it because it’s such a large structure…but we do have it under control at this point.”
The owner of the building says no one should have been inside the building during the fire and Bibb County fire fighters reported no injuries.
