CSU women’s soccer headed to the Final Four

The fifth-ranked Columbus State University women’s soccer team is headed to the NCAA Division II Tournament Final Four.

Mandy Janowitz scored the game-winning goal in double overtime on Sunday to give the Cougars a 2-1 victory over 16th-ranked West Florida. The win sends the Lady Cougars to the Final Four for the second straight season.

"The feeling is so surreal," Janowitz said. "Just being here and having the opportunity to play with this good of a group of girls and us all be here together and to get another opportunity to play. No one wants their senior year to end and so just having another chance to play with them, it’s the best feeling in the world. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”

Nicole Corcione scored the first goal of the game while goalkeeper Maylyn Parsons made five saves.

Next up for the Cougars is a match up against second-ranked Grand Valley State out of Michigan.  The Lakers defeated the Cougars in last year’s national championship match.  The game is scheduled for Thursday, December 1st in Kansas City, Missouri.
