Columbus State soccer advances to Sweet Sixteen with win over Armstrong State
The quest for a NCAA DII National Championship continues for the Columbus State women’s soccer team.
On Sunday afternoon, the Lady Cougars beat Armstrong State, 5-2, to advance to the Southeast Region final also known as the Sweet Sixteen round.
Columbus State is 19-2 on the season and has won 14 straight games. They also picked up their 34th straight win at home.
Georgia Barton led the Cougars with three goals. Mandy Janowitz and Olivia Jarrell also scored. Goalkeeper Maylyn Parsons added four saves in the win.
Next up for the Lady Cougars is a meeting with second-seeded and 20th-ranked North Georgia. The match will be played on Friday at Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida.
