Three Columbus High volleyball players sign scholarships
After a GHSA AAAA semi-final appearance, three Columbus High volleyball players will be playing at the next level.
Jha’Meisheia Griffin signed a scholarship to play at Georgia State University, a Division-I school. During her senior year, she gathered 308 kills and 23 solo blocks.
"Everyone is a family, they have a great academic program, and everyone is just awesome there," Griffin said about the school.
Teammate Alisi Motu’apuaka is headed to Bryant University, a school that’s competes at the Division-I level as a member of the Northeast Conference. During her senior year, Motu’apuaka averaged 9.1 assists per set and had 64 aces.
"I’m excited to graduate and get into college to play for who I want to play for," Motu’apuaka said.
And finally, Skylar Blackmon is headed to Charleston Southern, a school that competes at the NCAA Division-I level as a member of the Big South Conference. Blackmon is a former WLTZ Scholar Athlete who averaged 5.2 digs per set and had 78 aces during her senior season.
"A lot of recruiting and a lot of things happened since January," said Blackmon. "It was a lot of stress and everything but it all paid off in the end."
