Central’s Markail Benton accepts Under Armour All-America game jersey

It was Christmas come early for Central linebacker Markail Benton as he received his jersey for the Under Armour All-America game.

Benton is one of a select few in the nation to accept an invite to play in the annual game. He’s a highly recruited senior who verbally committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide a couple of months ago.

Benton says he’s excited for the opportunity to play with and against the best of the best.

"It’s a wonderful feeling," Benton said. "I mean anything a kid could ask for is right here in the dream. The exposure that the game has, all the attention that the game has on ESPN, it couldn’t get any better."

"Higher competition, I have seen over the years, brings out the best in Markail," said Benton’s coach Jamey DuBose. "So I expect nothing but a first-class week from him down there and a great ball game."

Benton is the second straight Central High Red Devil to be selected. Last year, current Auburn freshman John Broussard took part.

The annual Under Armour All-America game takes place on January 1st, 2017.
