Mazda recalls vehicles for possible rear hatch problem

(CNN) – Mazda has announced a worldwide recall of over two-million vehicles to fix a problem with the rear hatch.

Apparently, lift supports for the hatch are susceptible to corrosion if water gets on them.

The factory failed to apply enough protective coating to prevent the problem.

The recall affects more than 759,000 cars and SUV’s in the U.S. and Canada including:

– Certain 2010-2013 Mazda 3 compact cars.
– 2012 to 2015 Mazda 5 vans.
– Certain 2013 to 2016 CX-5 and 2016 CX-3 SUV’s.
