Facebook posts triggers library lockdown

Orlando, FL (WESH) Police at the University of Central Florida on Wednesday addressed the media about the response to Tuesday’s gun scare at the campus library.

According to UCF police, the department learned of a Facebook post about a "Muslim" person with a gun inside the library. Then, campus police received multiple calls, some of which described a person, possibly a woman, with a gun in the library.

Police said that based on the best information at the time, they immediately issued UCF Alert text and email messages. UCFPD said that they acted with the goal of sharing information quickly so people on campus could take precautions to stay safe.
