Candidates fight for New York

(NBC News) Senator Bernie Sanders hit on a favorite theme Thursday at a campaign appearance in Manhattan.

"Billionaires who represent the wealthy and the powerful should not be about buying elections," Sanders told supporters.

To have a shot at the nomination, Sanders needs a blowout win in Tuesday’s New York primary, but Democrats are still divided.

Sanders staged a huge rally Wednesday night, but suffered a setback supporter Dr. Paul Song, after he slammed Clinton, referred to "corporate Democratic whores who are beholden to big pharma".

Sanders later took to Twitter to call Dr. Song’s comment "inapropriate and offensive".
