Kelly talks space
(NBC News) After three previous shorter missions into space, recently returned NASA astronaut Scott Kelly says only one thing caught him off guard about his recent trip that lasted nearly a year.
"The only big surprise was how long a year is. It seemed like I lived there forever," said Kelly.
And it turns out, a lot can happen in a year. Kelly returned to Earth temporarily an inch-and-a-half taller because of the lack of gravity in space.
The astronaut is expected to eventually shrink back to size, but NASA is working to learn all that they can about how space affected Kelly.
The organization is using his twin brother Mark, who stayed here on Earth, for comparison as they prepare to send more astronauts up for extended space missions.
