Andrews stalking trial underway

(NBC News) Attorneys offered opening statements Tuesday sports reporter Erin Andrews’ $75 million lawsuit against a convicted stalker and the Nashville hotel where he recorded video of her as she changed clothes.

At times Andrews appeared to wipe away tears, shaking her head "no" as her attorney described what took place in the Nashville Marriott eight years ago.

Michael Barrett, an insurance executive, was sentenced to 30 months in prison for altering a peephole and shooting the videos. Barrett put those videos online where they quickly went viral.

Andrews attorneys claim the hotel was negligent in giving her information to Barrett.

Attorneys for the hotel argue Barrett tricked them, figuring out Andrews’ room number on his own, and then asking to be put in the room next to hers.
