Copy-Alabama authorities investigating police shooting in Selma

SELMA, Ala. (AP) – The State Bureau of Investigations in Alabama is looking into an officer-involved shooting in Selma that left a man wounded.

Selma Police Chief John Brock tells news outlets two officers were making a traffic stop Thursday night near downtown when they heard multiple gunshots. The officers then saw a group of four to five men running from the area with guns. Both officers pursued the suspects, one on foot and one by car.

Brock says the officers identified themselves and one fired at the suspects. The suspects returned fire.

During the chase, officers found an 18-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his leg. He was brought to the hospital. Brock says it's unclear if the 18-year-old was one of the suspects shooting, or if he was caught in the crossfire.

No arrests have been made.
