Central Players Ready for Battle with Prattville
It’s a game that’s been circled on most Central High players calendars for a while now.. a meeting with the Prattville Lions.
September 18th’s game between the two 7A teams is our WLTZ game of the week for many reasons. Both teams enter Friday’s night game undefeated in region play and are both undefeated against in-state teams this season. Prattville happens to be Central head coach Jamey Dubose’s former squad and he grabbed his first win against his former team during last year’s regular season match-up. Finally, if that wasn’t enough- it was Prattville who eliminated the Red Devils in last season’s 7A playoffs.
To say this week’s game is huge, is an understatement.. and for Red Devil players like Keron Delince, they’re more than ready for the challenge.
"It’s all we’ve been talking about all this year and practice," said the defensive back. "We’ve been ready for these boys. I don’t think they’ll be able to beat us this time. We’re gonna have so much attention on the field- first play we’re gonna hit them when we come out."
Defensive end, Water Pritchett agrees and said, "We wanna get back at them because they’re the last person in Alabama to beat us. We just hate them, we really do."
For Central quarterback, Quan Weaver, Friday is his time to shine. "Coming into this game Friday, it’s personal. It’s a personal game. You enter your dream season at Central and it’s just personal. I’ve just been hyped about it all week and I’m gonna come with my A-game."
Central and Prattville kick-off at 8pm Eastern.
