VIDEO: Toddler dies after being left in hot car
PHOENIX – Phoenix police say a 2 1/2-year-old boy has died after being left unattended for hours in a hot car at his family’s home.
It happened outside the home on Raymond Street, near 75th Avenue and Broadway Road.
Frantic family members called 911 around 4 p.m. Monday when they realized the boy was not in the house, Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump said.
When officers arrived, family members were doing CPR on the boy. The child was pronounced dead at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Crump said.
According to police, the boy’s parents had been running errands all day, and there was some confusion among the adults about who was watching the child at any given moment.
