Scholar Athlete: Jensen Price

Jensen Price’s soccer coach calls him a leader… a player who inspires younger athletes to do well.

“One of our 8th graders on JV had just come back from a math competition and was self-conscience. In a very subtle way, Jensen said, math counts, I did that, that’s cool,” said Brookstone soccer coach William Byrd. “When this experienced guy, this upper classmen, supports an academic venture like that, it makes the younger guys feel confident that they’re not just athletes, they’re not just students, they can be both and we depend on that here.”

Price is a senior defender on the Brooktone soccer team and also plays football in the fall. He enjoys being a Brookstone cougar athlete and has been thankful for all of the memories he’s had so far.

“Football: all those kids I’ve been playing with for the last few years, I’ll remember them forever, same with soccer. I’m still friends with some of the kids that graduted. Just being able to grain brothers as we call it,” said Price.

Price is a two-sport athlete who gives his all in sports and in academics. He attends practices and games every day of the week, all while holding an unweighted 4.0 GPA.

“It’s definitely a challenge but our coaches work with us,” Price said. “They understand that academics come first.”

He’s also involved in Habitat for Humanity and is a member of the math team.. something he has a love and a passion for.

“I’ve been on math teams for a long time,” said Price. “I really love math and it’s just fun to go and compete against other people and see how mart you really are compared to other people in the state.”

While price isn’t sure where he wants to go after graduation, or what he wants to do.. he does know one thing.

“When I graduate, I want to make an impact at something. I want to do something that changes people’s lives. That’s the goal.”
