Dana Barker – Meteorologist

Dana Barker is the weekend meteorologist for WLTZ. He also assists both on and off camera during breaking severe weather events and helps the station’s social media efforts on Facebook and Twitter (@wltzweather).

Dana was born in New Jersey but has lived in the local area since age 3. A graduate of Shaw High School in Columbus, he holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Columbus State University and a Master of Science in Applied Meteorology from Mississippi State University. Dana is currently the only TV meteorologist in the Columbus market to hold a graduate degree in the discipline.

Besides working in WLTZ’s weather department, Dana works full time as a client software analyst at TSYS’s downtown Columbus campus. He is also a freelance sports writer for the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, covering Columbus Cottonmouths hockey, Columbus Lions football, and area college and high school sports. Barker also serves as a football official for the Alabama High School Athletic Association.

Dana currently resides in Auburn, Ala. with his wife, Sarah, who is an elementary school teacher in the Auburn area, and their toddler son, Colin.
