‘Celebrate America’ Series of Events

Columbus, Georgia – May 7, 2014: Area residents and visitors will find a lot to celebrate at the National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center in the coming weeks. Our “Celebrate America!” series of events kicks off with the 4th Annual Armed Forces Day Car and Truck Show on Saturday, May 17; and it ends with a bang on July 4th with Freedom Fest, the community’s Independence Day celebration.

Here’s a rundown for your calendars:

May 17, Armed Forces Day – 4th Annual Fort Benning Sergeants Major Association Car and Truck Show, 8am – 2pm

May 22 – Greater Columbus Georgia Chamber of Commerce Military Appreciation Breakfast (Contact Chamber to purchase tickets.)

May 23 – Premiere of D-Day 3D: Normandy 1944 in the IMAX Theatre

May 24 – “You’re in the Army Now!” Living History event on World War II Company Street, 10am – 4pm

May 26, Memorial Day – Paver Dedication Ceremony, Flag Retirement Ceremony, Kids’ Mini-Camp

June 6, D-Day – 70th Anniversary of World War II’s invasion of Normandy, France

June 14 – 239th Birthday of the U.S. Army, Flag Day

June 19 – National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center’s 5th Birthday!

July 4 – Freedom Fest, a celebration of our nation’s independence 11am – 6pm.
