PRESS RELEASE: Phenix City man arrested on drug charges

On April 21, 2014 at approximately 4:53 PM/CST a Lee County Deputy Sheriff conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Lake Harding area of east Lee county which led to the arrest of Camon McKahn Valdez (26) of Phenix City, AL for Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of a Pistol and several traffic violations. Valdez is currently being held in the Lee County Detention Facility with bond set at $14,700.00.
Valdez was driving a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee and was stopped for speeding in the 8000 block of Lee Road 379 Salem. The deputy also determined that the vehicle was bearing a tag registered to a reported stolen vehicle. A search of Valdez’s vehicle resulted in the discovery of controlled substances including methadone and methamphetamine as well as baggies, two firearms, a set of digital scales, smoking pipes, over $1,200.00 dollars in cash and other drug related contraband.
The Jeep that Valdez was driving at the time of his arrest had been reported stolen to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office on March 18, 2014 when it was taken from the side of the road where it had broken down near Highway 51 south of Opelika.
