Adoption awaits kittens saved from Ala. man’s home

ATHENS, Ala. (AP) — Two
kittens will soon be offered for adoption after they were rescued from
the home of an Alabama man charged with 22 counts of animal cruelty.

Police
say 48-year-old Ronald Golden told officers he stomped and strangled
kittens he bought using the website Craigslist. Police arrested Golden
after finding five kitten carcasses at his home and blood spattering the
walls of one room.

WAFF-TV reports authorities also found two
kittens that were alive. Now named Melvin and Mia, the kittens are being
kept safely at the Athens Limestone Animal Shelter.

Shelter
officials are having the kittens spayed and neutered by a local
veterinarian. They should be up for adoption sometime in the next two
weeks.
