National Infantry Museum closes exhibits
Day two of the government shutdown continues and Fort Benning is seeing the effects as the National Infantry Museum closes four of its exhibits.
The Era galleries will remain temporarily closed until the government shutdown comes to an end.
These exhibits include the sections of the National Infantry Museum that focus on the Spanish-American War all the way to the Global War on Terror.
The artifacts in these galleries are controlled by the United States Army which mandates that they close during the shutdown.
But the rest of the National Infantry Museum will remain open since it is privately run by the National Infantry Foundation.
The government shutdown is also affecting another part of Fort Benning.
The Commissary closes it's doors on Wednesday and will remain closed until the shutdown ceases.
Also thousands of civilian workers deemed 'non-essential' will be on furlough until the shutdown is over.
