Qualls defense requests more time
A Harris County teen facing charges of vehicular homicide for the death of a Northside student appeared in court Monday.
Clayton Qualls defense attorneys are requesting more time for an expert to examine the car he was driving the night 16-year-old Hannah Gilmer was ejected from the car on County Line Road.
Qualls was already facing a DUI charge in Harris County when he got behind the wheel of Gilmer's car on the night of June 15, 2012.
According to numerous reports, Qualls was speeding and drinking at the time of the crash.
Judge McBride did grant the request for more time.
Two other teens are facing charges of evidence tampering after allegedly helping Qualls dispose of beer cans on the scene before leaving Gilmer to die.
The case could go to trial next month.
