Group of 40 soldiers return to Savannah

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — A group of 40 soldiers have returned home after nine months of serving in Afghanistan.

The
final flight of the 3rd Infantry Division returned to Hunter Army
Airfield on Saturday. The unit — comprised of soldiers from 10 states —
served in southern Afghanistan and helped train Afghan army aviation
personnel and supported combat operations.

Master Sgt. Raphael
Suarez told the Savannah Morning News that he was deployed just after
the birth of his son, Erick, and had to leave his wife — who is a former
soldier — to take care of their children on her own.

Suarez has been deployed to Afghanistan three times and has been sent to Iraq twice.
