Auburn city council sets date for Toomer’s Oaks removal

AUBURN, AL -A date has been set for the removal of the Toomer's Corner Oaks.

The Auburn City Council passed a resolution at Tuesday night's
meeting to remove the oaks on April 23rd.

That date, only three days after the final Toomer's corner
rolling celebration following Auburn University's A-day
football game April 20th.

The removal process will begin at 7 a.m. and will require
closing Magnolia Avenue from Wright Street to Gay Street and College Street from Thach Avenue to Glenn Avenue.

The oaks were allegedly poisoned by Alabama fan Harvey Updyke in 2010.
