Lee County Humane Society hit by vandalism
Auburn, AL– The Lee County Humane society is looking for any information about a case of vandalism that wrecked two of their cars.
Lee County Humane Society management received a call from Auburn Police Department on Thursday, November 22 at approximately 5:30 a.m. notifying them of damage to two of the shelter's vehicles on their property on Ware Drive in Auburn.
Large rocks were thrown at both vehicles causing significant damage to the windows of the shelter's cargo van and Nissan Xterra. The incident happened sometime between the hours of 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday and 5:30 a.m. on Thursday morning.
“This incident comes at a terrible time for our shelter. We recently completed repairs and maintenance on both shelter vehicles. The shelter cargo van, which sustained the most damage, will be used for transporting animals to other parts of the country that do not share the same pet overpopulation problem that we do. This damage is a hard hit to our vehicle expense budget which is already tight,” said Bobbi Yeo, Executive Director.
If anyone has any information about this incident, please contact Lee County Humane Society at 821-3222 x11 or the Auburn Police Department at 501-3100.
