Eviction leads to drug bust in Columbus

Columbus- A standard eviction turned into a lot more for officers in the Muscogee County Marshal's office on Tuesday.

According to Muscogee Marshal Captain Curtis Lockette, two Deputies were sent to a home on Hodges Drive off of Miller Road to serve an eviction order Tuesday afternoon.  Nobody was home so the deputies began to clear the home.

While going through the home they made an unexpected discovery, marijuana and two rifles.   Captain Lockette estimates the drugs have a street value of $24,000.  The drugs and guns were taken as evidence and the rest of the contents of the house were put on the curb to be hauled away as abandoned property.

Captain Lockette says the case remains under investigation.
