Tyler Perry donates van

DeKalb County, GA (WSB) – An Atlanta-area woman with cerebral palsy is getting some help from a big-name filmmaker after he saw a local TV news report on her van being stolen.

24-year old Alicia Day was overjoyed when she saw her new van today, courtesy of Tyler Perry.
It replaces her specially equipped, $60,000 van.

Her family says someone stole it out of their driveway Sunday night.

Day's mom uses it to take Day to her job as a Home Depot greeter and to doctor appointments.
Perry saw her story in a newscast Monday and called the station, saying he wanted to buy her a brand new van.

Then he called the Day home, taking Day's dad off guard.

The Home Depot is also pitching in.

Day's co-workers have donated $5,000 to help with medical expenses. And she's set to meet the company president on Friday.
