Apple announces new laptop

San Francisco, CA (CNN) –  Apple's annual Worldwide Developers Conference gets started today in San Francisco.

At the gathering, the company hosts people who write software for its products.

Apple often frequently uses the event to unveil new products and today was no exception.

The tech giant announced a new laptop with a high-resolution display it says will contain three million more pixels than a high-definition television.

Apple also unveiled upgraded MacBook Pros without high-resolution displays.

This is the company's first WWDC since its co-founder and longtime chief, Steven Jobs, died last fall.
