House of Heroes-CVC Continues Home Repairs

PRESS RELEASE

On Saturday, October 29th , House of
Heroes-Chattahoochee Valley (HOH-CVC) will be honoring 3 area veterans
by performing home repairs.  Dean Alhakim led the BOSS team (Better
Opportunities for Single Soldiers)  volunteers in repairing the home of
SFC David Hill at 6015 Windsor Dr. on October 28, 2011, This house was
funded from proceeds of the Run for the Heroes/Run Across Georgia event.

 

The
CSU Chapter and Professional Chapter of SHRM along with the MCSD team
house will be led by Gary Phillips (SHRM) and Tim Vinson (MCSD) as they
repair the home of SGT Robert Smalls on Saturday, October 29th.  Their
house is located at 2735 Mesa St., Columbus, Georgia  31903.  CSU
students as well as students from Jordan, Shaw & Hardaway will be
assisting on these repairs.

 

Beginning
at 9:00 a.m., Carl Cribb from the Sgt. Majors Association will be
leading his team of volunteers in repairing the home of 1SG Wallace
Davis and his wife, Namo Davis on October 29th .   This home is located at 13758 Cross Creek Road, Upatoi, Georgia  31820.

 

Over
the next two months HOH-CVC will repair over 30 houses for the 2011
project. Since its inception on November 18, 1999, HOH volunteers have
installed handicap ramps and fixtures, as well as have completed minor
repairs to the homes that affect the quality of life for the elderly or
disabled veterans and/or their spouses, at no cost to them.  To date,
House of Heroes has helped over 425 recipients and recognizes them at a
special ceremony to present them with a flag that has flown over the
Capital of the United States in their honor.
