Local stores hope to make impact with Soles4Souls

Looking for something to do with those shoes you don't wear anymore? Some local stores are coming together for a nation-wide shoe drive.
Soles for Souls is hoping to distribute 11 million shoes to people in need this year. The organization gives away a pair of shoes every seven seconds. Many go to countries like Haiti and Chile, which have both been hit by earthquakes.
Below the Knee in north Columbus is one of the local stores participating, but the owner says he is also looking for ways to help out locally as well.
Mike Edwards says, “Try to keep them local, here in Columbus. We have several charities that we deal with. Most recently we donated 75 pairs of brand new shoes to Valley Rescue Mission.”
Below the Knee, The Kiddie Shoppe and Fun and Fancy in Columbus are participating. Fun and Fancy in Opelika is also collecting shoes.
To donate, bring a pair of gently used shoes to one of these locations and drop them in the drop off box.
