Georgia man killed in two-vehicle accident on I-85 in Auburn

A two vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 85 at the 52 mile marker in Auburn has claimed the life of a Georgia man.

According to the Lee County Coroner's Office, the accident happened about 5:00 p.m. It appears that two vehicles were traveling north when the driver of one vehicle attempted to changed lanes and apparently hit the second vehicle and went into the median and flipped several times.

The driver was partially ejected from the vehicle but was wearing his seatbelt. He was rushed to East Alabama Medical Center emergency room where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at 5:46 p.m. He suffered multiple blunt force trauma.

A male passenger in his vehicle and the female driver of the other vehicle were transported to the emergency room with non-life threatening injuries.

The name of the fatality victim is being withheld pending notification of family. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the accident. The accident remains under investigation the Auburn Police Division and the Lee County Coroner’s Office.
