Cancer Care and Prevention

Treating the entire person, not just the disease…
That's what the John B Amos Cancer Center believes in.
Friday the center hosted a cancer symposium with its partner Columbus Regional.
Topics included skin cancer prevention and treatment, genetic testing and new thinking in cancer care.
“We have new therapies, we have new chemos, therapies that target a specific side in the treatment of cancer,” said Angela Dumbya, nurse practitioner. ”We've come a long way, and we still have a long way to go.”
The Cancer Center is also part of a pilot program with the association of Community Cancer Centers.
The focus is to help patients understand the healthcare system.
